North Suffolk is at the heart of these stories and many more like them. Cumulatively, they tell the story of what our agency accomplishes and hopes to accomplish for all the members of our communities. To do this, we need your involvement and support.

North Suffolk Mental Health Association helps people achieve independence.

  • A two-and-a-half year old finally learns to talk by joining other toddlers and their parents in a therapeutic playgroup using songs, stories, and art as tools to learn to speak.
  • A young woman with Downs Syndrome walks to her day work program, her lunch box in one hand, her mother's hand in the other.
  • A man with schizophrenia maintains his first job in 15 years. He saves enough money to move into a room of his own.
  • An elderly woman with liver and kidney failure stays at home and maintains her recovery from alcoholism with weekly nursing visits.
  • A father who suffered panic attacks for years after fleeing his war-torn country takes control of anxiety using meditation and medication. No longer afraid to leave his house, he takes his children to school each day.
